Necessary Supplies
Make certain that you have sufficient basic supplies for a few days such as food, water, and all other necessities for your family. Don’t forget about medications, pet supplies, soap, and hand sanitizer.
Create Emergency Plan
Involve everyone in your home when formulating the plan in case of a hurricane. Remember to include evacuations from establishments outside of the home such as childcare facilities and offices in your plan.
Keep Disability in Mind When Planning
Having a support network and transportation method in place is very important in the event of a hurricane. Ready.Gov is an excellent website to utilize for additional information on how to plan if you or a member of your family has a disability.
Don’t Forget Pets
Pinpoint shelters that accept pets prior to an emergency situation and have a supply kit for your pet set to go. If you have a friend, relative, or neighbor willing to look after your pet in case you cannot, make the arrangements beforehand.
